On September 29th, organ donation was celebrated in style at the Vita Redita Gala Dinner and Auction in the Michigan Stadium. Vita Redita is a fundraising event that raises money for the University of Michigan Transplant Center. It has helped raise millions for transplant research, a patient emergency fund, and camp facilities for its pediatric patients.

The Gala featured a dinner with catered entrées from Opus One and various intricate dessert assortments. The dinner was followed by a live auction with remarkable items such as a B17 Flight Experience for two and a Motor City Dream Garage Tour.

Dr. Jeffrey Punch, the Director of Transplantation, spoke of Vita Redita’s history of success in aiding the University of Michigan Transplant Center. Following this pragmatic speech,  tears shed throughout the audience as Keenan Smith & Jamila Carrington spoke of their son’s touching experience as an organ donation recipient.
